Urna's lip lifted at the hint of disbelief in the wolf's tone—she'd decided to share; she'd even gone through the trouble of translating it into a season Enya would recognize. Did Enya really think she'd lie about something so inconsequential for personal gain? Would Enya? The thought dogged Enya's own reveal, fresh doubt stepping after it like a shadow. Enya's casual mention of her mother's death complicated things further—was Urna supposed to offer sympathy? Ask more questions? Family was a jar of maggots she didn't care to open at that moment. They'd stay blissfully ignorant of each other's pasts, and that was fine.  Urna was so committed to solidifying this boundary between them that she nearly missed the gift. As it was, her tail twitched confusion at Enya's approach, and she half-got to her own feet in readiness before she understood what was happening. She took the small pouch with a grunt to hide her embarrassment. "You didn't even know my birthday until just now." But the click of objects in the bag had her ears swivel to full attention, intrigued curiosity plain as day in her expression.  She pawed it open, letting the smooth, gleaming shapes spill partially out onto the moss in front of her. Not stone, not bone; it took a moment and a lucky angle for Urna to place what she was seeing. Claws? But they were huge. "What are these?" she asked, looking up with wonder.

Enya was a warrior. She was a fighter in heart and Will. She practiced each and every day, pitting herself against the hardest of challenges and mightiest of foes. Those of quickness did not go unnoticed, either, for she herself was a viper, quick to strike with a bite as deadly as the namesake. She knew better than to underestimate someone's size or strength.  And yet, when she leapt forward to grab the fox by its scruff so she might shake it until it stopped squealing and squirming, she missed. Her teeth still snapped shut, but it was on air instead. The small fox had evaded her, dancing away and darting off to put distance between the two of them. Enya did not chase the fox. Instead, she turned her anger towards the remnants of Illuna's belongings that rested nearby. A paw was swung and the bowl was sent flying through the air.  As she stood, her body steamed, the frost sizzling as it came into contact with her fur and flesh. Her name was shrieked and the fox followed up by telling her she was wrong at the wrong thing. "Ha!" she scoffed, not the way that she figured it. But then the fox threw the fact that they had both seen it in her face again, and her growling grew louder once more.  She flung her paw again, sending the second cup flying through the air, before snapping her gaze onto the fox. Her fur bristled and there was very much a wild look in Enya's eyes. "Are you sure?" she challenged, stalking forward with slow, meticulous steps, "You drugged me. You used magic against me. Every instinct, every fiber in my entire being, wants vengeance. I came out here hunting, and perhaps my prey was right beneath my nose the whole time. I tried to act civilized" Enya spat the last word, stressing it before she continued, "and look what that got me."  The fear and quivering of the fox did not go unnoticed, satisfying a deep instinct within her. Despite her words, Enya did not make a second attempt at the fox just yet. Her instincts were strong, and by facing her, those instincts warned her of the fox's sharp teeth and whatever else she might be able to wield. She had been blinded by her fury earlier, putting herself into danger, but this time, she held herself, even if the fox looked to be preparing to bolt more than fight back.
Dice Roll 1: Agility - Enya flings cup 1 into the air Success: The cup is flung high and falls to the ground, smashing apart Fail: The cup skitters across the ground and remains unharmed Dice Roll 2: Agility - Enya flings cup 2 into the air Success: The cup is flung and shatters against a rock Fail: The cup rolls instead of being flung into the air. It remains unharmed.

Enya’s reaction to finding her flask where she left it was frankly adorable to Avia. The genuine fondness brought the other wolf to think about the plush on her back, whose face she promptly and softly grabbed with her jaws as she lied on some hides near Enya. She set the white plush between her forelegs and rubbed her nose into its chest. The two wolves then shared a moment of affection toward their treasured inanimate objects. Avia was surprised by Enya’s words. Fake? Avia thought that reaction could be reasonable if just strangely worded. She laughed, finding it both funny and befuddling. I, I mean, the bigger ones definitely have mountains and rivers and stuff, she answered as her laugh resolved. She wondered for a moment whether Enya was joking around again, but her continued questions seemed sincere enough. Uh, finding other islands is, like, a solved thing now with radios and stuff, she answered with a yet amused smile, realizing only afterwards that Enya definitely wouldn’t know what that means. Regardless, she continued. Before, people would hire trackers who sat in these lighthouse-like towers and charted the island’s course. There’s currents and stuff, and there’s people who track the weather too, so you can get a general idea of where other islands are too. Plus, the bigger ones are lower and move slower, and they’re obviously the ones with all the bigger cities and stuff on them, y’know? Her third question made Avia laugh, mostly because it was the exact concern Chevron had had. Well, you fall into the Matter, of course, she answered with a wry smile, much like she had with the coyote. It’s, like, a fog, but solid. I mean, you’ll suffocate first, but your body will... it’s not pretty. But you, see, this wolf... She held a forepaw proudly against her chest looking up with closed eyes and a smile. ...could fly with magic! Just soaring through the air! No wings required! She chuckled as she looked back at Enya, wrapping her paw back around Snowy. It’s kinda like how you walk on water by freezing it. It’s like I’m swimming through air. If that makes sense?

Avia walks on a snowy field and looks happily at the aurora.

Angror held back the urge to allow a low purr to rumble in his chest as what was previously a red wolf, now a tall dragon, approached to nuzzle against the side of his face. Though he couldn’t help but to smile as her tongue flickered from her lips, sliding up along his own chin and jaw. Blue eyes shifted back to her. A smirk on his lips. Oh Enya, ever the flirt she was. Nevertheless it certainly did ease him just a little. Suppose he could at least ease up and lighten the mood again. “It’s a wonderful proposition Enya dear. It’s just a shock, and…just wish I could grow my own pair of wings.” He added with a slightly pained chuckle. Sure it reminded him of old times. But hr wouldn’t dare spoil the fun for her. A bigger smirk danced along his lips as he leaned up to her, his tail curling high as he licked his lips. “Trust me darling, I’d love to see the kind of show this form has to offer for me later, whether I’m watching or participating.” He whispered to her, his warm tongue sliding along the scales that covered her neck. “But I believe we have a flight to catch?”

CARAVAN MASTER

"You don't have a wagon? Jakar, now's the perfect time! It's the Wainrite, after all." Clover's stout tail furled a pleased little question mark. "But for now, mine will do." Rain started to spatter in spits and bursts around them, and the Caravan Master set off at the briskest trot his short legs could manage.  He made it as far as dropping the ramp to his wagon before the heavens opened in earnest. "Ohp, there we go," he said, scrambling the last few steps into shelter. With a quick shake, Clover ducked into the wagon proper, turning to beckon Jakar.  The inner space was built to accommodate guests of even Jakar's size, with sliding cupboards, folding shelves, and cinched ceiling nets making the most of the available room. The drumming rain was muffled by the roof, and the cozy glow of a small lantern illuminated the carved wood and embroidered fabrics as Clover hooked it over a fixture.  "Now, Jakar, it seems like you have several things you wanted to discuss. What will it be first?"

Illuna’s trembling became out of her control. She had such little time to work out the reason why she too received Enya’s vision. She tried so hard to think, to come up with the words, but the snarling, the bared fangs... her instincts were telling her to run, but her heart was telling her to stay, to see this through, to fulfill Mother’s plan for them. Her mouth opened to help her breathe. She panted rapidly, like she had just darted across the Frosted Tundra. Enya growled accusations that Illuna immediately sought to dispel before the wolf was done. I, I— But she had no time to talk. Massive jaws came for her, sharp teeth capable of severing her head in a single bite. She instinctively ducked and darted, spinning around faster than she knew she could. Adrenaline had filled her blood. She scampered away until her wits came back to her, after putting some distance between her and the red wolf. Enya! Stop! pleaded the fox in a shout. She spoke in short, fast, shrill barks. You anger at the wrong thing! I have no purchase in your fate, in your vision! We both saw this for a reason! She stood right where she was, ready to dart again if Enya moved... provided she had time. Be reasonable! You are not a wild animal!

Rolling Agility to put space between them.

  • Success: Illuna darts sufficiently far. −1 to attack her in the next post.
  • Failure: She cannot dart far enough before Enya has a chance to attack.

Urna made to ponder her question, and Enya found herself amused by this. Was Urna always so cautious and careful? She took the pondering not as her deciphering the seasons into different seasons, but as a willingness to reveal an inkling of information about herself. For all of the time they had spent in the faction together, Enya, yet again, concluded that she knew next to nothing of her kin. Enya nibbled at her fish a bit more, this time going for the cheeks, as Urna proclaimed late autumn. She paused in her nibbling and her head lifted up, her ears perked forward. "Really?" she said with skepticism, a scaled brow cocking as she smirked with amusement. "That's a perfect coincidence, then.". She chuckled as she rolled back to her belly, then rose to a stand. It was clear that sitting still wasn't one of her strengths. "Yeah, mine's in winter. It went about as one might expect it to. Ma died." Enya nosed at her bag, now empty of fish, and undid the side pouch to reveal yet another pouch inside. She plucked it free, causing the goodies inside to rub together. The bag its self was a soft leather and a light tan in color, a stark contrast to the redbrown bag she'd carried it in. The small bag seemed well made. Enya did not toss the bag to Urna. She approached, her head low and her ears relaxed. She held the bag out with her muzzle for the hyena to take and mumbled, "Happy Birfthday"
The bag contains a set of polished grizzly bear claws.

The deepest trenches. At once, Delta shied away. He kicked backwards off the seafloor, shuffling back and flattening his fins as his heart leapt hard and fast within his throat. Loch spoke of the darkness, endless, grasping darkness, and shut his jaws sharp enough to elicit a flinch from the little cat. Things did not come from The Deep, that was what he knew. The Deep did not give, at least not things that breathed or spoke. That was how The Deep was. The Deep was The End. And it is Natural, and it is Good.  He nearly missed Loch's mention of the pirates, flinching again despite himself as his eyes drifted back to the snap of his dark jaws. A hunter of monsters--was Loch a monster? Was that how he came from The Deep? Guilt struck him at the thought, gaze darting down to his own paws before remembering the krait and electing to keep an eye on it instead. Even sea snakes didn't come from the deep. His throat tightened with fear, but even more so, he was confused. Was Loch lying to him? Why would he lie? He spoke again of Saltfang and what it meant to be a pirate, words that he registered just barely beneath the thrum of confusion and panic clouding his mind as his gills flexed with the growing intensity of his breath. "Um," he finally managed, flattening himself and scooting backwards as he risked a glance away from the krait to look wildly behind and around him as if darkness would slither out from the sand to drag him back. He caught the reef from the peripheral of his vision; if Loch chased him, could he beat him back there? Another pang of guilt struck him to be considering running away, but if Loch was from The Deep... ...well, then he had great reason to fear. If he wasn't and he was lying, then that would be very rude of him, and perhaps Delta should fear him also for whatever he thought to gain by saying such. He swallowed thickly, ears pressed backwards as he set his eyes somewhere not-quite meeting Loch's. "Things do not...um..." things do not come from The Deep, "the Deep does not give," he tried, shakily. "It Takes."

Again, the words did little to appease the fury of the confused and scared wolf. Though Illuna answered her completely, it made no sense to Enya. She had passively processed the use of 'Mother' throughout their encounter, and had even muttered the name with the joined prayer, she didn't understand. It had been the fox who had brewed the tea. It had been the fox who has mislead her about what it would do. It had been the fox who had drugged her. Enya had not been calmed at all. She'd been irritated, enraged by the truth of her own choices and past. Living in that vision, it had been like living it all over again, heartache and pain, hopelessness and self-loathing all included. If there was one single thing the fox did that did satisfy Enya, it was her trembling and the smell of fear wafting from her. It was her quick beating heart that she could feel, pumping blood faster through her veins. The fox stared at her, locked eyes with her, which began to glow brighter. "No" she quickly retorted, resisting the magic she felt pulling at her Will, which had only made the situation worse. "There could be no reason to make me see such a thing, except to hurt me. You have hurt me, fox. Now it is my turn." The snarling wolf, with lips peeled back to reveal her yellowed teeth, lunged forward to close her jaws around the fox's scruff.
Dice Roll: Agility - Enya makes to attack Illuna and grab her scruff Success: Enya is quick and strikes fast, her jaws closing on Illuna's scruff to tear her flesh and make her bleed. -1HP Fail: Enya is quick, but the fox is quicker. She strikes, but Illuna dodges/evades

Perhaps if he'd been awake, Delta would have felt his presence sooner. He batted again at the driftwood, smacking it between his paws and bouncing in clumsy circles around it before a haphazard strike sent it bouncing off towards the shore. He panted, looking up from the rippling water to follow it, and froze at the sight of someone watching him on the bank.  It was a wolf, but not one Delta recognized. His breath caught in his throat as his panting stuttered, staring wide-eyed at the stranger as the waterfall rumbled comfortingly behind hm. Could one dream of someone they'd never met? Had Delta met him before? Saltfang had so many new faces, had this one simply slipped his mind? A distant anxiety tugged at the tips of his fur, though he resisted the urge to bristle. This didn't feel like a nightmare, he saw no endless Deep nor other cats, and the few dreams he'd had of the surface had all been rather pleasant. He tilted his head, blinking curiously at the wolf as he swallowed the instinct to flee. It was just a dream, he had no reason to fear. Just a dream. "Hello?" he called, voice smooth and light as if speaking underwater. He lifted a paw to step forwards, then hesitated and held it close above the water. "Have we met?"
